Activity Appropriate Attire For optimal performance in the gym, it is important to have clothing that you are comfortable in and that is non-constricting (for example, no jeans). It is also useful to have clothing that helps to keep you cool during intense activity. Gym Rules Be sure to check out the rules of your gym prior to purchasing fitness attire. For instance, some gyms do not allow you to have a bare torso (eg. no crop tops, and sports bras must be covered in a t-shirt). Accessories Accessories such as gloves and lifting straps can help you with your grip. However, lifting straps should be used sparingly as they can hold back your grip strength. If it is permitted in your gym, you may wish to consider using chalk. Heart rate monitors can allow you to track your level of intensity as well as your calories burned during cardiovascular activity or weightlifting. |
